How To Become a Hairstylist

To become a hair stylist and get a hair stylist salary, a high school diploma or GED is required. You will then need to take cosmetology or barber training classes. These classes can go for a few months or up to a year. Once you graduate from these training programs then you will get a certificate or diploma. Make sure that the school you attend is recognized by your state. After you you pass the training course, then you will need to pass a state exam to get your license. Then you are ready to start cutting and styling hair for a living. You may be required to get future training every couple of years to keep your license.
