How To Become a OB-GYN
Obtaining enough education for practicing as a licensed ob-gyn is a long process. An individual who desires to work in this field must earn a 4-year degree in human biology or the like. This is the basis for most admissions into medical school. After the individual acquires his or her degree, he or she must take the MCAT test to get into medical school. Medical school usually lasts 4 years. A prospective ob-gyn will take many of the same courses other physicians must complete. Ob-gyns will expand their education by completing courses in obstetrics and gynecology.
Upon completing medical school, the student must complete an internship and a medical residency in a hospital. These processes can take up to seven years to complete. Once the individual completes the medical residency, he or she can test for state licensing.
