How To Become An Endodontist

To become an endodontist you have to attend an accredited Dentistry school and get your dental degree, after you’ve obtained that degree then you must go through at least 2 more years of training and courses. American Accredited programs are a minimum of 2 years in additional training.

After you have completed the training you must be board eligible to take the American Endodontist exam which is three parts. The first part is a written exam focusing on anatomy, biochemistry and pharmacology as well as a few other subjects. The second part is case history where you must tell about a few different endodontic cases and procedures. The third and final part of the exam is an oral exam, they will question on to see how good you are at problem solving and how creative and knowledgeably you are. After completing and passing the three part exam, then you will be able to say you are a certified Endodontist.

Before certifying you and allowing you to perform difficult procedures and surgery on patients, they absolutely have to test you. The exam is one of the most important parts about becoming an Endodontist, passing it could stand between you and a future career path.
